Nachgefragt @drunkenmonday.de: 13 Fragen/Aussagen an, von und mit Jancis Robinson MW

(NM) Well, where should I start. Drunkenmonday is highly honored to have Jancis Robinson MW responding and answering the 13 questions and statements for our blog category “nachgefragt“. Jancis is without any doubt one of the most influential and powerful characters in the wine world. Her “Oxford Companion to wine” is now in the 3rd edition, but she is also author of a couple of other books, declared as milestones of wine writing. A full list of her books can be found here. But Jancis is not only famous for her success in the traditional writing medias, she is also playing a bigger and bigger role in the online wine scene: for instance together with Gary Vaynerchuk in his wine video blog WinelibraryTV (see the video below the text), at twitter, or online tasting notes. She acts as an omnipresent wizard in the wine world. Here are her two cents about our “nachgefragt” thirst for knowledge.

1.) Drink more water.

2.) Armageddon scenario: My last bottle of wine would be a Cheval Blanc 1921 with my husband.

3.) My first WoW-wine was a Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses 1959.

4.) I had the most evil hangover after drinking too many first growths with Edmund Penning-Rowsell (great English Bordeaux expert now deceased).

5.) The most stupid prejudice of wine is colour prejudice.

6.) Without any wine I would now be bereft!

7.) Winegimmick: I could not live without a foil cutter anymore.

8.) Wine and toothpaste is a no-go.

9.) Mum and dad would not be very happy if I would be inattentive nowadays.

10.) I would love to drink one glass too much of wine with Jean Pierre Moueix (late father of Jean-Francois and Christian).

11.) Portuguese wine should get much more attention.

12.) Carruades de Lafite is totally overrated in China.

13.) A wineblog in general is only as good as its author.

Thanks you so much for your participation Jancis. And also for the information, that even “First Growth” can cause hangovers! With your passion about Portuguese wines, you’re in line with Gary, but maybe not with Jean Pierre Moueix. But I think even Jean Pierre would have issues drinking a good Pomerol after brushing his teeth. One thing I’m wondering about: Did you ever had the 1959 Chambolle Musigny Les Amoureuses again with pretty much the same “wow” effect? Is this moment with the same bottle of wine repeatable?
