Nachgefragt @drunkenmonday.de: 13 Fragen/Aussagen an, von und mit Ilkka Sirén

Hopefully this English-Finnish-English translator didn’t fail and the first sentence makes any kind of sense (to all the Finish speaking people out there). Anyway. It’s Wednesday again and „Drunkenmonday asks“ delivers with a new episode! Our guest today is the finish wine-video-blogger and founder of ViiniTV Ilkka Sirén. Together with his buddy Arto Koskelo he managed one of the most different wine video blogs in the wine 2.0. If you want to know how Habenero and wine pairs, how to spit in a watering can or what happens when you mix Prosecco and a popping candy you shout seek out this interesting little wine video project. With no suprice, ViiniTV was lately ranked number one wine blog in Finland! Ilkka also started the #fortifiedfriday initiative, to force fortified wines like Port, Sherry or Madeira! Due to the fact that Ilkka is very addicted to traveling, he had some appearance in the German wine 2.0 scene – as a guest of Hendrik Thomas TVino for instance. The logical consequence: his 2 cent now on Nachgefragt@drunkenmonday.

The easy rules: We asked, Ilkka answered in bold.

1.) Drink more water and live a wrinkle free life.

2.) Armageddon Scenario: My last bottle of wine would be any older vintage of Niepoort Colheita, with Bruce Willis sitting on the asteroid. A nossa!

3.) My first WoW-wine was something from Gato Negro. I was like ‘Wow, that’s shit’. I’ve been looking for better wines ever since.

4.) I had the most evil hangover after drinking some homemade traditional beer from Finland called sahti. Nasty stuff!

5.) The most stupid prejudice of wine is the whole blind tasting thing. People think we have some sort of super natural scent detector attached to our heads. It just annoys me beoynd belief when people ask about that. Also a good one is that ‘wine peeps don’t like beer’. Kills me every time.

6.) Without any wine I would now be almost sober.

7.) Winegimmick: I could not live without a cork screw anymore. I know, pretty obvious but wine tasting would be rather difficult without it.

8.) Wine and prescription pills is a no-go. Seriously.

9.) Mum and dad would not be very happy if I would be a blogger nowadays. Ooops.

10.) I would love to drink one glass of wine too much with Charlie Sheen.

11.) Fortified wines should get much more attention.

12.) ‘Natural wine’ is totally overrated.

13.) A wine blog in general is only as good as Google Search ranks it.

Kiitos Ilkka! Great answers! To be honest, I would be very careful drinking to much wine with Charlie Sheen! Maybe prescription pills would only be the starter into this flight. But if you do so, please let us know and don’t forget your video cam. Maybe he can ask Bruce Willis regarding your asteroid / Niepoort Colheita scene. I can hear Hollywood calling! Seriously, I think you and Arto are doing a pretty good job in making wine even more fun. For the consumer, the wine snob and everything in between. That wine peeps don’t like beer was recently weakened by a Drunkenmonday „Braufactum“ tasting, with great beer made for the wine drinking customer.
